Neutering your pet at Knotts Yard Vets in Watton

NEUTERING YOUR PET

Neutering can help prevent illnesses and some unwanted behaviours in your pet.

Neutering your pet at Knotts Yard Vets in Watton

Here at Knotts Yard Veterinary Practice in Watton we like to get male and female kittens and puppies neutered as soon as possible to prevent unwanted pets. Our local dog and cat re-homing and care centres are full to bursting and having your animal neutered will help stop unwanted puppies and kittens.

Neutering can also help prevent illnesses and some unwanted behaviours.

If you wish to get your pet neutered please talk to our friendly team at Knotts Yard Veterinary Practice who will be able to advise you about the cost and the best time to neuter your pet.

We undertake routine neutering of dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Benefits of neutering your pet

  • Neutering has benefits that apply not only to dogs and cats but also to other animals such as rabbits and ferrets.
  • Neutering prevents females coming into season, when they may attract unwanted male attention, become pregnant or have false pregnancies.
  • Neutering prevents the risk of testicular cancer in males and uterus infections and cancers in females.
  • In male dogs and cats, neutering can reduce urine marking and roaming.
  • Unspayed female animals can be messy when they come into season - during this time, females can bleed for up to three weeks.
  • Animals don’t respect family relationships - siblings will mate. This increases the risk of offspring with birth defects and deformities.
  • Neutering animals can reduce the risk of them being stolen for breeding.

Neutering cats

We now neuter female cats from four months old which helps to stop any early age pregnancies. Related cats will mate with each other and it is common for a female cat under six months old to have a litter of kittens.

Please speak to our staff about getting your cat spayed or castrated. Both are routine procedures and your pet will be able to go home later the same day.

Please contact us for more details or to make an appointment.
